It's that woman wot did it!

I'm Innocent your honour.

If she hadn't got that 40 X 10Ft skip to do a garden clean out.
If it hadn't been delivered while I was down the paddock.
If she hadn't put it where I have to back to when I come out of the shed.

Can you see where this is going?
What I'm saying is that I am not a silly old bugger who backs his triumph into skips, it's that woman who makes me do it.

Yes I've dinged the 7. I have to back about 50 yards down a drive lined with trees & shrubs, from the shed to get to where I can turn out the front gate, or down the drive to the house. The skip was placed right where I stop, before going either way.

My 7 has only a drivers side wing mirror, so I did not see the skip, which I caught with about 8" of the other corner of the back.

So although I have more excuses than a parliament of politicians, there is nothing else to say other than I am most annoyed with my self. I'm not sure how many times I've called my self a silly old bugger in the last few hours, but it is lots.

For once I have to be glad of that huge back bumper, it sure did it's job. The cover is wrecked of course, but there are only very minor dents in the back of the fender, & a few inches of boot/trunk lid.

Even the tail light lens is OK. There is a little skip paint on it, but no damage.

The car has picked up a few minor scrapes & scratches, plus a heap of stone chips in 10 years & 60,000+ Km, so this is probably a good time for a full repaint. I'm getting a quote tomorrow.

Isn't it so annoying when you do such a stupid thing? I must fit a passengers side wing mirror, although I wonder if I'm smart enough to look in it.

Dont feel to bad Phil.
There are plenty of truck drivers that are not aware that there is even such a think as a passenger side mirror. I think most of them have worked for me at some stage.[:o)]

Yes. That's right. She was merely born so everything in the whole wide world is all her fault. She has good reason to feel guilty. She is the one and only root cause of whatever goes wrong.

This, of course, includes your rusty neck joints not being able to turn your pumpkin head around to view the brave new world around you.

But, in the end, think of this as a new and exciting episode. Here will be a fixed and freshly painted TR7 for you. I hope they remember to squirt a bottle of new car smell spray in there, too.

This makes rewaxing the car and replacing a license plate light this weekend pale in significance.

I'm thinking it is a tractor with a bucket on the front "skip loader".

Big metal box. Hooks and chains. Lorry comes along and leaves it. You - and half the neighbourhood - fill it up with rubbish and then the lorry come back to cart it to the dump for tipping. They hold about 3cu.m [or an Austin Maxi, if I can find the old picture and remember how to upload it!]

Yep, that's it Maxwell, thanks, except these are almost rectangular, not shaped like that, & 40X8x5Ft so quite large. How one can not see such a thing I can't imagine.

Thanks Don, we'll try to become more civilised just for you. [:D] However when your house paddock is 1 & 1/2 acres, & heavily planted with trees & shrubs & your lady is terrified of fires, you have a disposal problem. A large domestic bin can fit only so much.

My wind brake, [row of large close planted trees] on the southern & western sides is over 100 yards long, with over 30Ft high trees. The prunings of these will require 2 skips/dumpsters just for them, & other prunings. These 2 will be vegetation only & will go to a chipping station at the local tip/dump. A third smaller one will get car parts, fencing materials etc, & go to land fill.

Thanks Troy & Mildred, a little humour helps, when you are both annoyed with , & sorry for yourself, at the same time. When do I start that driving job Troy? I've proven qualifications now.

[:D]1 3/4 Acres here, most of it wet land and eating up the tree constantly.
When I bought the property almost 20 years ago it was totally treed. What I didn't remove for the house has been soggened (how's that for a word?) from the wet land and has fallen to the ground.
Cost me a pretty penny each spring to clean yup the winters mess here.

At the rate we seem to be banging these cars up it's amazing there are any of them left after 30 years. At least we're doing our part to keep the body shops in business.
