its back......

Postby gaz » 21 Mar 2012 17:06

just got my blue one back today its been having a bit of paint work and another door fitted.
It was the first time since billing last year I have been able to get in and out of the drivers door (luxury)

its ended up having windscreen panel both front wings, doors and rear quarters done and will be going back in about four weeks to have the bonnet, boot lid and rear panel and all the black bits in satin black.
I will get rid of those white spots once and for all.

but looking at the driveway now I think i need a red one so i can be patriotic

That would be right Gaz, all the Keepax alloys had the 2 digit year code cast in them. Mind you they did exist as far back as '75 - I have seen one with that date on - but I think they first appeared on production line cars in '77 with some of the Sprints & also the ACN series TR8s.

I would love to get my hand a set of 77 alloys even though my car was originally fitted with steels. I didn't know they were around in 75, the earliest I have seen was a single 76 wheel.

I was surprised when I saw the '75 wheel, John - in fact I have a picture of it somewhere just to prove to myself that I wasn't hallucinating!

It's on a "methods build" pre production TR8 living down in this part of the world.

Gaz - sorry to be going off topic here! Car looks good, you bringing it to Billing this year?

I've also seen the 75 keepax alloy Tony mentioned, I think there's a pair.

It amazes me that the Keepax alloy was more or less available right
at the start of TR7 production yet didn't find it's way onto a car until the ACN and Sprint cars were produced.

Gaz, I remember your cat from Billing last year and you taking it for walks on the lead.

I thought that was great !!!!

Roy

Not only the factory alloys but all GKN alloys including Wolfrace are date stamped, my Coke car has wheels made in 1978.
I have a brand new 76 wheel still in its original factory box.

Hi,
Do you know you can buy colored pet spray for that white spot on your car? (could be cheaper than another car)
