Hola from Madrid-1979 TR7

Good evening

I just discovered this website looking for info regarding my 1979 TR7.

The TR7 has been of my father since 1.993, and has been most of this time in a classic car dealer waiting for a buyer that never arrived. We don´t like it very much at home because it came home due to a debt his former owner did not pay to my father.

Finally i decided to pick it up the other day, and after 750 euros of putting things in order ( electrics, battery, alternator, carburators cleaning, adjusting the gear lever, etc) the car is running and ... I like it.[:)]

I found all the docs and i have invoices dated 1990 and the engine was fully done at that time. It was also painted in dark metalic gray instead of his nice yellow from the factory.[:(!]

Interior is quite good.[:)]

Here you have some pictures of the day the car arrived in my house in December:

Welcome to the forum. Looks like the rain in Spain didn't fall on that one!
Answers to most problems are here but the 'search' function is a bit slow and takes a couple of hits. People here can also address most faults and have ideas on all things wedge shaped.

Can't be that many '79 coupe's around, certainly not here. Good starting point. A little spit and polish and it'll look like new.[:)]

Thank you very much for your welcome.

I don´t know if the radio is working, [B)] i´ll go down to the garage to try.
Regarding rain , we have very little, the car was wet on the pictures because that night slept outside and it is the night humidity. The car has always been stored inside garage, no rust.

The main problem is i am waiting for the front shock absorvers (do you call them like that?[?])
The car drives like a boat, when i push the trotle the "bow" goes UP and when i stop accelerating the "bow" goes down, and i cannot pass the TUV like this, so i cannot drive it on the open road.

I don´t understand: Are there many 1979 around or not?

I don´t know how many in Spàin. In autoscout Spain there are 4 or 5 for sale including mine, but for the moment nobody interested and i am less interested to sell now.

One question: Is the car missing something under the front bumper?

Regards
Alberto

Later cars (Canley/Solihull) over here in the NL were fitted with a front spoiler.
Yours looks to be Canley built, as it has a 5 speed gearbox and the later cooling system.
(the wiper switch is incorrect (early type), should have the same appearance as the indicator switch)

Wwelcome Alberto

a new set of shocks all rouns and uprated springs will give the car a whole new feel

it's a fairly easy DIY job if you fancy doing it and i'm sure the lads here will give you a blow by blow account of how to carry this out..
