Those rear lights look strangely familiar, but I can't quite place them. Mk 2 Cortina?? I guess most of the parts would have been taken for their classic value to the marque they originated from. Shame as kit cars, home builds and hot rods form a valid part of the classic car scene. I have a Spartan kit car myself, awaiting renovation -----some day! supercass

And the paint doesn't seem to have flaked off on the headlights!

'L' registration suggests 1972 so I think it's clear what really happened here... someone came out of the Canley factory with pictures of plans of the Harris Mann 'Bullet'/'MG Magna' which lead to this lookalike.
They are Cortina rear lights - it says so in the text.

I think you are right there John, too much of a coincidence with the Coventry connection!
Looks like green check TR7 seats in there, although those must have been fitted a few years after the original construction.

As John says.... it's far too close to the final shape for the guy who built it to simply think the same thing. Did he also have some inside engineering info? "Modified wiper motors" for the headlights?
