Worth Saving ? 1980 Canley FHC
Posted: 29 Dec 2011 21:27
I purchased this for the Wheels,Double Bulge Bonnet & the 3.5 V8, plus of course as a spare parts bin for my 78 Speke FHC V8.
The damage was done by the previous owner who was attempting to learn automotive repair skills as he went along (failed miserably and shouldn't even be allowed to touch a push bike!)but lost interest after hacking up several areas and grinding away the beginings of rust. As he didn't bother to protect the bare metal the rust then took hold over the next decade whilst he decided what to do to the point that it is at now and he finally dumped it in the to hard basket . I have added rust kill to the areas to arrest the rot hence the black colour.
I have already saved the Speke from a similar previous owner although it had very little rust even though it had been off the road for 20 years, the Canley I was thinking as a club track car for a bit of fun. That way a FHC gets saved from the scrap yard and I get some fun without having to stress to much plus I still get the parts.
Thoughts?
For those who are wondering, the wheels are Cheviot Australia Wheels from the TR7PRO, a limited run special from Leyland Australia and also used for a one make racing series (TR7 PROcar) for our top drivers of the day. Not sure of this cars history (TPKEJ7AT202830) and if this car was one of the run as if it is it is missing the rest of the markings.
