My car is back from the shop and I need to replace a number of the decals. There is a nice little write-up from Martin Rothman in the Google Documents section about placement, but it doesn't have measurements for where the front laurel wreath goes.

It's a 1980 with the large wreath; can anyone tell me a measurement down from the bonnet edge to the top of the wreath?

Also, the shop stripped the inside of the bonnet for painting, so I lost any decals there. I know there was a large yellow one with engine specs located near the upper right corner. Would there have been any other labels on the inside of the bonnet? I don't have any old pics that show the whole thing. Same for door edges, near the VIN plate. I'm pretty sure there was a sticker there, but don't have a picture. Was it the one about Catalyst air emissions? A photo or two would help!

There was an article in the TR Drivers Club mag a few years ago - probably 2008 - which gave the exact locations for all the external logos.

The original article was in Issue 3 2003.

Boot lid TR8 decal -
lower edge of the decal is X above the bottom edge of the trunk lid:

1-1/8" / 28.58mm 1-5/16" / 33,34mm

The rightmost edge of the upper half of the 8 is X from the edge
of the lid:

2" / 50,80mm 2" / 50,80mm [Here they match.]

_RIGHT_ [or Starboard] fender decals -
Find a point along the swage line to the right of the left (door
hinge side) edge of the fender:

5-7/8" / 149.23mm 6-1/4" / 158,75mm

The lower left corner of the L in the "LITRE" decal is X above
this point on the swage line:

3-5/8" / 92.08mm 2-7/16" / 61,91mm

Since the "3.5" and "LITRE" decals come on the same backing
piece, this puts the left edge of the "3.5" X from the left
edge of the fender:

2-3/4" / 69.85mm 3" / 76,20mm

The bottom edge of "TRIUMPH" in the wreath decal is X above
the top edge of the "LITRE" decal:

2" / 50.80mm 1-3/8" / 34,93mm

the leftmost edge of the wreath decal is X from the left edge

All measurements were made using horizontal and vertical lines from
curved panel edges, so accuracy is a little limited. But not as limi-
ted as the differences of measurements show. PLEASE! Do measure at
least two or three times before applying your decals, and as always,
your exact placements may vary from the ones found on mine and Tim's
cars...

It looks like DNK has the same yellow US engine specs sticker under the bonnet, and that should be all I need under there, since I don't have air conditioning. The black stickers like Silverseven's must be Canadian.

The TR8 dimensions seem to be different than the TR7, even for the pieces that I would think are the same (like the TRIUMPH on the left of the boot lid; it is further to the right than the measurements in Martin Rothman's summary).

I contacted Valerie McMillan of the TR Driver magazine, who told me she has a pamphlet made up from the 2003 articles with all of the dimensions, taken directly from a couple original cars (including hers). She is sending it to me. I will scan it and put it in the Google Documents summary. But I would assume it will be UK specs and won't be exactly the same for US. I still don't know what decal went on the door near the VIN number plate, but I assume it was the air emissions sticker for 1980 US Federal vehicles.

You are probably right on the black CDN labels , especially considering they are bi-lingual. Come to think of it, though I'm not certain I've ever seen a American wedge either.........

Again maybe not relevant to your American car, but my original 82 car has no other info on the inside door jam other than he metal vin number + data plate. The 78 was repainted by the PO, but also only had the number plate inside the door
