SOP 777S - TR7V8 Rally

Postby dursleyman » 29 Nov 2011 17:01

Just came across some pictures of a TR7 V8 that I used to help out with sometimes back in the mid 1990's. I understand it was originally a Cyril Bolton car and was owned by a friend called Jon Vicker. Jon had a lot of work done to it including things like new rear coil-overs some "proper" brakes and moving the engine back in the chassis.
It was quite a beast to drive and needed a confident, flamboyant style to get the best out of it, which luckily John had. It was rarely ever seen pointing straight ahead!!
Anyone know if its still around?

Is this Jon Vicker of Millwood motors?

Pete, yes it is the very same Jon Vicker now selling Caterhams at Millwood. He was a very good driver but never had enough time to devote to his rallying.. You might see the City Speed Centre stickers on the car which used to be Jon's business from the late 1960's until he sold it in the 1980's.

Thought so, bought a couple of cars of him and Paul Griffths in the 90's including his Montego Estate his wife was driving at the time.

This is an ex-Cyril Bolton car, it is now in Holland.
Christopher

A respectable collection.
