Aftermarket Steering Wheels

I have a couple of decent aftermarket steering wheels and was thinking of fitting one on the TR7.
The new Mountney boss kit (003) includes a couple of dowells to go in the back of the boss, presumably to operate the turn signal cancelling.
Does anyone have any experience with these or are there any snags to look out for?

The dowels should be there to operate the turn signal return switch around the steering column.
Just make sure the dowels don't touch anything they are not meant to.
So trial fit before tightening the central nut.
Also check that the boss doesn't touch the cover for the steering column switches. They can be tight.

My DHC was fitted without the dowels, and guess what?

yes, the indicators didn't cancel so I had to put a couple of small bolts in to make it all work.
