TR6 Metering unit

Postby bbcaf99 » 18 Sep 2011 19:12

I have petrol dripping out of the end of my metering unit, the next to the bulk head, does anybody know if this is an easy fix [:)]or do I need another unit [:(] It seems strange but this leak occured after I had changed the petrol filter in the boot ( trunk to our colonial cousins ) bled the air out then started the car only to notice a strong smell of petrol [?]

Any idea's ?????

Being a TR7/8 site there isn't much expertise on the mechanical fuel injection of a TR6 as they (TR7's) used the Bosch electronic fuel injection and then only in the last year (last two years in California) and then only in North America (more or less). The mechanical fuel injection of the TR6 couldn't meet N/A emissions so it wasn't seen over here. I did see one at a car show 4 years ago though.

Come on, if you walked around on labor day there was one there.
Had a nice chat with him for about 15 minutes.
Turns out he deals in the parts.
I was interested as I might want to turn my 6 from a TBI unit to a MPFI someday.

With over 800 cars I didn't see it.[:p] Was it UK's mechanical FI or a modern adoption of EFI?

Going from TBI to MPFI isn't likely to justify the expense unless you're just doing it as an engineering exercise.

No, it was an original style

Do we do anything with regard to expense on some of these cars?
Here's a pic of what caused my thinking
