The modern TEX needs to be combined with parts from your old oem Wedge mirrors! That solves all the problems...
You take the part that sits inside the door, and the angle piece from the old oem mirror. Then you fabricate the stem holder yourself
- out of solid metal. Actually there were FOUR different holders (see picture) used over the years - and the <u>only one</u> that do work
as intended (meaning for the forseeable future!) is the solid one (bottom right in the picture collection below). But they are few
and far between:
And then finally you get yourself a stem from the seventies for the passenger side mirror - they have the pivot attachement point
for the mirror head roughly half an inch further back as compared to the present day TEX. Then you finish it all off with the modern
TEX mirror head, preferably with the convex anti-dazzle glass, since they have a much better design when it comes to the pivot
mechanism. Done, problem(s) solved...
As you see - I liked this subject, since I've been there done that got the tee-shirt etc... [:D]
