I've been ground down with projects on the house [B)], all the work on the engine hasn't even started yet but it's nice to have a clear vision of the finished product!

I actually think it suits the car, but as always i ask for you guys opinions before commencing!

Thanks,

Rob.

The colours of the Ford Gulf GT40. Not really representative of anything Triumph did (unless you're racing with Gulf sponsorship).

Of course not[:D] the original paintwork is peeling and cracking, the PO got stitched up paying £1500 for a shoddy blow over[:0]. basically i need to strip the paint and have gotten fed up with the "gone off milk" colour.

Get rid of it! It's hideous...

(Unless of course if you're GULF sponsored?)

Sorry, the car is almost acceptable but does look like a cheap GT40 rip off, but the clowns mouth is taking it too far.

I like the stripe effect, but not the "gulf" colours on a tr7.
How about keeping the car white, but colour the strip something more BL, like blue or red.....or even "group 44" green???
the bumpers look better black ........

The clowns mouth was a mistake, it was only supposed to be the bumpers which were orange along with the sills. the guy who did it for me had trouble making the sills "take" the orange, and also took the orange too far up creating the clowns mouth[:D]

Personally i quite like it as it has no Gulf logos on it's only us petrolheads who know it for the gulf colours. My only concerns are making it look absolutely mint, a paint job like that has to be flawless otherwise the whole car would be ruined.

Ok the thinking cap has gone back on for another few months. Back to glossing the doors and grouting the kitchen tiles[V]

Paul, please don't take offence if it's the case but has that car been photoshopped or is it the real thing? looks ace to me!

It's your car, so if you like it, go for it. Wouldn't go for the orange bumpers though.

My Sprint will also get a rather period but non Triumph related paint scheme in the near future ...

hey mines currently matt black and will probably end up a nice shade of deep red if i ever bother, and when you decide to re paint a car..... well the factory colour chart can be forgotten, unless you have something really original or rare that should aim at concours, cars are personal and when your paying out for a respray go for what you like now not what was available when they were bought new......... paints moved on and there are a lot more colours out there now......... got a db5 driving round where i am in the gulf colours, looks very nice, and they are that, a gulf colour combo not a ford one, my old vauxhall viva was pale blue too......... but that was how it came not immitating the gt40, car which i love by the way.....

personally i would have the bumpers and front spoiler blue too that would make the car look lower at the front, and possibly split the orange for a double stripe, but thats my thoughts.. just get it done well and make sure we all get to see the finished article, and also dont you just love photoshop, the mods you can try out without even touching the car,.......[:D]

Someone posted on my 6 forum that you can't paint over the stock paint. You have to remove it. Is that true?

It is your car and should be a reflection of your personality. Paint it the way you want!

would assume any paint can be painted over as long as an isolator coat is used to seal the old from contaminating the new.

Hi,

I agree with my above learned friends, your car paint it how you like it mate and for what its worth i like it. Plenty of cars have been in Gulf colours Aston Martin, Porche, Mclarens etc, even seen a motorbike so why not a TR7 Sprint.

Cheers John
