Rear Fog Brackets

Postby wedgewa » 17 Aug 2011 15:34

Here in the US, 7s and 8s did not come with rear fog lights though the switching and wiring are there.
I've never seen a car with these lights in person but thought it might be fun to install them (it does get foggy where I live).
I was able to obtain a decent pair of the original Cibie lights and a pair of the "factory" mounting brackets. The brackets are different for left and right with different part numbers but nowhere in the BL shop manual or parts book does it show which is left or right.
For lack of a better description, when on the car, one bracket will have an "L" profile and the other will have a "J" profile.
Could one of you in a country where these lights were required and factory installed please identify which bracket is left and which is right side?

Mine (original)are mounted so that the horizontal leg of each points to the outside of the car. (Both are 'L' shape but the lefthand one a reversed 'L', so as to speak).

Thanks Alan -- That seems the most logical way to put them on. And yes my brackets are mirror imaged L shape. (I just used a J in my post because there's no reversed L on the keyboard.)
