Black eyes or blue eyes??

Postby richards » 15 Aug 2011 14:39

After picking up a dent in the only panel on the car that I was happy with the paint, I have decided to respray the whole car, I have learnt loads since the last time and I am hoping to only make new mistakes this time!!! However whilst discussing the repaint with a colleague he asked if I was painting the headlights to match the rest of the car? I hadn't even given it a thought! The headlight were originally painted satin black for speed but I quite liked the result but now I am in two minds. The car is not the factory colour and there are several other details that are non standard so originality is not an issue but I cant make my mind up.

Any thoughts? here is the car as it stands.

Colour match them. Black ones look like replacements that haven't been painted yet. And keep the clear bonnet too. [:)]
Nice looking car.

... and rally cars of course [8D]

But in your case (on a DHC) it looks better when they are the same colour as the rest of the car.

I'll buck the trend and admit that I like the black headlamp buckets...

Cheers for all the replies, I really like the black lights but I think I might do them body colour this time, Its much easier to repaint them black if it all goes Pete Tong!

The bonnet and the rest of the picture is a mega photoshop, I had just painted the bonnet so it was easy to set up the camera, take the picture with the bonnet off, then fit the bonnet and take another shot. I also took another with the flash pointing at the rear wing, another with the flash on the interior and then blended the best bits of each of the pictures doing a gradient clear on the bonnet. To finish I changed the background and I have it printed out looking like this on the wall of my office.
