Anyone gone for these?

I was looking on the net tonight and noticed these. They look good and was wondering if anyone else has gone for these on their cars?

I think a really BAD idea - the MGF wheels fit straight on and are usually cheap enough to buy since they don't fit much else!

I would not do it on the front unless you made the large bearing conversion.

Phil now you are in Oz, things are different.

You will find MG F wheels very expensive. I don't think we got many of them.

If you want 13" wheels there are quite a few nice aftermarket wheels around, as it is getting hard to find quality tyres for them. That may be changing, as I'm told some of the Kumho tyres are getting pretty good.

If you want original alloys you will find lots of them at near give away prices. I have 6 or 8 of them.

Have you joined the Triumph Sports Owners Association yet? If not you should. There are many specialists dealing with our cars in Sydney. You will find out who & where, & get lots of other help as well.

<font size="2"><font face="Comic Sans MS">You'll find that they're illegal here in Oz and as your in NSW a state that has annual road worthy inspections, you'll have problems.

I think the best option will be for me is to get some of the MGF wheels shipped from the UK as I have a far bit still to bring over. They will go in a box. The only reason I am looking into bigger wheels is to allow me to upgrade the break calipers on my car. Has anyone updated their breaks whilst keeping the standard 13' ?

I think the Capri calliper conversion allows you to use original 13" mags on your car.

I needed a very thin (3mm thick) spacer to clear these callipers with the original 13" alloys.

The Capri vented brakes will also fit inside 13" inch steel wheels.

A thin spacer is needed between the hub and wheel (I think about 1/8") and the callipers will need to be fettled where they touch the inside of the wheel. IIRC I had to grind a couple of millimetres from a couple of spots. I'd heard they'd fit inside 13" 7 alloys without modification but if Beans had to fit a spacer I'd follow his lead on this.

I ran these brakes inside the steel wheels for about 20 years until the choice of tyres became limited, then changed to 14".

i have hear that the Capri ones were good and not so heavy as the Princess option. I was also looking at the Hi-Spec conversion option as a way to go and have noticed that they have put all the bits that you need in one kit. Still costs a bit, but would be something to look into. Did not want to get trapped into buying just their pads though and not have the option to go to other suppliers.
