Insurance Renewal

Postby JamesD » 16 Jul 2011 14:35

Received my insurance renewal (TR8, 3,000 miles, breakdown and legal cover, 12,500 agreed value) from Towergate seeking an increase from last year's £175 to £241. After negotiation, they offered £209.

Footman James quoted an initial £240 and then reduced this to £216.

Further enquires produced £167 from Heritage and £136 from Sureterm, both on the same basis.

Towergate seemed aware that they were not competitive, particularly on their breakdown offer, and were almost resigned to losing my custom.

Given that Towergate and Footman James are the 'recommended' providers for the TR clubs I find it concerning that the premiums on offer from them are higher than other providers operating in the same market.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

James

I find getting Insurance quotes a nightmare, particiularly when four various cars are involved, and just one driver.

[One's on temporary cover and going soon... The first month was £45, the second £14, both times put on the same existing policy]

Roll on the day when the driver's insured, not the vehicle [apart from fire\theft etc] - but it's not going to happen, is it?!

Beware! [:0]. Some of the lesser known insurance companies offering cheaper insurance can be a pain in the arse if you ever have to make a claim.

I am with Peter S Taylor, fully comp insurance and 10,000 miles per annum £74, i then went through the following website;

http://www.topcashback.co.uk/

And joined the AA at a cost of £72 but then topcashback gave me back £42.42 so the AA ended up costing less than £30.
