Not me I'm sad to say.

Is that the correct trim for a TR8 ?
I thought only the Spiders were given that trim.
Perhaps someone with a far greater knowledge of TR8s could tell me
because I've never seen another.

Also I don't think this was the first UK TR8, that I believe was the old Rimmers car which is still for sale as far as I know.

Cracking car all the same and someone has got a real bargain.

That interior trim was also used in the French version of the "Spider" although it was not called a Spider and did not have the Red reflective logos and pinstriping. The same seat pattern was used in the MGB around the same time.

You will note that the VIN tag does not have the Manufacture Date, the Color Code or the Trim code. So, the VIN dose mean it was a RHD V8.

Would be nice to see the Serial number on the wheels just to verify.

Maybe they were just getting rid of the excess.

Well the VIN checks out as a TR8 so looks like the real thing. Someone did get a bargain!

it a well known tr8, according to the untold story it was the fastest recorded triumph around mira test facility 130 odd mph, until an o' series turbo charged tr7 development car beat it

I've seen this TR8 a couple of times over the years. Is was up for sale at £10000 a couple of years ago.

I think we are getting our TR8s in a muddle here! According to the factory records held by Canley Classics it was KHP574V (X923) that held the fastest Triumph at Mira record briefly, until it was beaten by KHP537V, a TR7 with an O series turbo engine at 132 mph.

If the car that has just been sold was part of the development fleet then Canley Classics may well have some records about it's history at BL.

KHP574V was sold off by Gaydon about 7 years ago. I've never seen it.

I believe the French version pf the Spider (no graphics) was just called "Special Edition". That one showed up as a RHD TR8 just goes to show you that with Triumph anything was possible.

Seriously though, very desirable but i'd be frightened to use it, especially with that interior.

It was the first TR8 convertible built to full UK spec, it was one of a pair, the other was Poseidon green. The interior was used to test its suitability for the production cars. It was built at Canley. The ex Rimmers car RDU 35W was the first of the 18 UK spec cars built at Solihull
The owner also had one of the fuel injected ACN fixed heads which he sold a few years ago.

Thanks for clearing that up Chris as I was sure the ex Rimmers car was the first Uk TR8.

I'm a confirmed 7 man but it's getting harder to resist the V8 burble after hearing them all at Billing.

I do hope I'm not on the turn.
