Wiper parking switch

These are advertised in Ebay, does it look like the right part? I might get one if it is, as my wipers have a mind of their own. Don't want to waste my money on an incorrect bit.

Hmmm.

I'm not sure.

IIRC when I dismantled my wiper motor, the wiper switch fits inside the motor housing and looks like the Rimmer diagram. http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-GRID006217

The ebay photo looks the same as the item off the Minispares website.

Maybe on ebay they've just stuck a generic photo of a wiper switch up there, or it's upside down compared to the Rimmers item.

Andy,

You may find this is still a standard Rover part, maybe easyily and cheaply available from your local motor factors.

OMG Peter, that brought back so many painful memories.[:0]

Several years ago the wipers were barely powerful enough to sweep the screen. It wouldn't have passed the MOT. I checked all the connections, earths, ,stripped the motor, rack, everything and finally bought a recon motor yet still had wimpy wipers.

I also took apart the wiper switch only for the infamous copper spring to hit me in the face..........

Finally, under the steering column cowling I noticed some wires wrapped in 20 year old masking tape. I found that a previous owner had cut the wires but then reconnected them by twisting them together. After 20 years the connectivity of the joint had degraded to the point of useless. Proper soldered joints finally fixed it.

Adam,
That sounds like mine, just about enough power to move the wipers, but takes an age to do one sweep in jerky movements. I gave up on the way back from Bromley in the rain on Sunday as it was better with no wipers, I think a strip down of the entire system is in order. [:)]
