If ever someone feeds you that bull about age not wearying them, don't you believe it.

It is more than wearying them too, it gets more difficult to handle heat & cold as well. I have found this summer I have been leaving the 7 at home, & taking other cars, as it was too hot to drive without air conditioning in all the rain& heat we've had.

Thursday I picked up a second hand aircon unit, from an imported DHC [Californian] to put into it. Unfortunately I'm not up to doing all the contortions one must do to remove the dash, to replace the ventilation system, so I will have to pay to get it done.

I expect I could buy a couple of 7s in the UK for what all this will cost, [the unit is a bit rough & will need work], but it's only the kids inheritance I'm spending, so why not. It will make the 7 the ideal car around here. Well almost!

It seems like most of the US spec TR8s had AC from the factory. Mine is one of the few that doesn't have it. There have been times when I wished I could raise the top and turn the AC on. Maybe someday I'll have to do what you are doing now. Fortunately, the Pacific Northwest rarely gets as hot as it does down there.

10-4 Jim. I've got A/C and I've had to disconnect the A/C hose to unit when I removed the heater unit to refoam. It gave a slight whoose which meant it had some pressure. I talked to the owner that had it from 1985 till I bought it and she said she used it often in Sacramento till it stopped working then took the pump belt off. I think if I recharged it it would work again but we don't need it here really. I may get it going again just because it's there. I use the A/C in the Integra often during summer because it's a coupe but there are few times when it's too hot to put the top down on the Spider but then I like the warm anyway. Getting old(er) does mean less time can be spent doing the hard work and running out of steam quicker but under the theory of use it or lose it, it's a matter of pacing. My Dad was about 75 when he decided the yard work was too much and sold his house for a condominium. He's 94 now in Assisted Living and still gets around Richmond in his electric scooter. My goal is to surpass him in being active.
