Fuel Tank/Sender Unit

I'm installing a new tank in my TR7. I will be using a V6 engine, so it isn't standard TR7.
I bought from Rimmers Part #TKC3415 which is the Sender Unit for the TR8.
Now I don't see where the fuel line to the engine connects.
I'm assuming I have the wrong sender unit.
How does the TR8 get it's fuel?
If I order the Part #TKC3408 will it have a pick-up tube?

Second, can I install the sender unit after the axle is installed?

If you have a standard TR7 tank then you need part TKC3408. This incorperates the fuel sender and the fuel pipe in one unit. The TR8 has a twin hole tank which uses part TKC3415 in one hole and a seperate electric fuel pump ( no longer available) in the other.

Dave, I'm pretty sure that to install & remove the tank you need to drop at least one side of the rear axle to make enough room for the tank to come in & out. I don't think you can get to the sending unit without dropping the tank.

Dave, fortunately for you & all of us Andy has that wrong. Although Craig in the other thread is having trouble with removing a fuel sender, I have not had a problem.

It should only take a few minutes, [say 20] to do the remove & refit, unless everything is very rusty.

You should replace the gasket, & perhaps a new lock ring would be a good idea, if you have much rust elsewhere in the car.

Just slide underneath, & you'll find it in the front of the tank, with plenty of access.

That would be the same part used in the TR7 FI which also uses a twin hole tank with no hose in sender unit and an in/out set of hoses in second hole for fuel circulation through the pump to cool it.

I think what I said about the sender/pump was correct. I never mentioned anything about removing the sender because I've only done it with the tank out. [:)]
