OEM door mirrors, RH, LH vs TEX

Postby tencate » 05 Feb 2011 14:23

In my quest to get my wedge as close to ORIGINAL as much as possible, I'm looking for a used *original* right hand door mirror. It MUST be the proper original equipment kind, not the TEX replacement (which sits too far forward when used as a passenger mirror on a LH drive car). It's been noted that these should be plentiful in the UK where you guys drive on the "right" side of the road anyway and that's where some folks over here across the pond have gotten them. I asked this question on the WWWedge mailing list and there were very few responses so thought I'd ask here and maybe over on Woody's forum too. Someone said the MG OEM mirror is exactly the same but I can't find any OEM MG mirrors anywhere either. It's all the TEX replacement stuff.

Anyone out there know of a source of OEM UK RH door mirrors?

(When it warms up a bit later today, I can post a photo of the difference between the pedestal on the OEM and TEX if you're interested.)

Thanks,
Jim

Jim, I am sure the likes of S&S or Robsport could come up with an original right hand side mirror, but maybe someone on the forum would have one for you?

And not wishing to hijack your thread but if anyone has an original LEFT side mirror going spare please let me know! Don't mind if it needs a repaint as long as it is complete & undamaged.

Odd just sent me the photo he took comparing the two mountings of OEM vs new style TEX mirrors. These have had the paint removed and been polished but you imagine the difference in where the mirror ends up being positioned with respect to the driver's viewpoint (the mirror sits on top of these pedestals).

I'm also convinced that Ted or Woody can find you an OEM LH original style too. We should arrange for an across the pond "swap" of OEM mirrors. :-)

I'll try both S+S and Robsport on Monday, thanks.

Santa brought me a rh mirror from The Wedge Shop. I haven't had a chance to fit it yet. I just took a look at it and it is the TEX replacement mirror. The base does look like it'll be too far forward if I mount it the same as the lh mirror. I'll probably just mount it a bit farther back.
