Anyone who missed the DVD codename Bullet first time around can buy one from a new batch which has just arrived. This was John Clancys first film and features the TR7/8.

Hi,

Anyone who has not got this DVD then i have to say you will never regret buying it, a excellent piece of work.Lost count how many times i have watched mine.
Any poss of a follow up one day John [?] Once you have had a well deserved rest after the latest TR DVD

I know it's old news by now but I've just finished watching the DVD for the first time and thought it was great. Definately liked the history lesson. Oh what could have been if not for the industry strife? Loved the roar of those rally cars for sure. Would have liked to see some coverage of the Group 44 and the lemans cars too. Disc 2 perhaps.[;)]
I thought it was neat seeing a few of you chaps on there as well.
Couldn't help but wonder if one of those tubs sitting out in the lot may have been mine.

As a recommendation, I think all of John's DVDs are well worth a watch.

John sent me his new "Big Triumphs" offering the other week and this is another "Triumph" well worth a look.

Craig, I hope to cover Group 44 in the sequel due out next year. Don't know about the Le Mans car because there's not much that can really be said without having access to it to film. I wasn't able to get to Silverstone on the day Bert was running it otherwise it would already be in the can but if anyone has any video of it running it's possible I could include a snippet somewhere.

If all goes to plan the main focus of BULLET RELOADED will be the US side of the story. Expect to see interviews with Bob Tullius, Ken Slagle, Mike Cook, Ted Schumacher and hopefully a few others. But we'll also have more on the 'works' cars over here and plenty of interviews with engineers and stylists to cover as much detail as possible.

Hi John it might be worth your while speaking to Alec Pringle about the Le Mans car,he is a good friend of Bert Smeets and what Alec does not know about the car would not be worth knowing [;)]
He is definitly worth contacting and you may even be interested in including his drag car,the Beast, in the DVD.

If I may please respectfully inquire, while the developmental and competition history of the TR7 in the 'Colonies' will be the thrust of your efforts, would it be not appropriate to include the representative tales of those whose ordinary cars have made history in their own right, and continue to make history today, and will get up to do it again tomorrow?

While we may lack the visceral heat of competition, at the end of the day, we are still in the 'Race of Life', as it were, performing the function the car was designed to do. Shouldn't a mention of the ordinary TR7 work horses out here be worthy of note?

Then there's that small matter of the passion exuding from a certain website and it's forums that serve this special interest like no other. Would that topic merit a measure of mention for it's important service in providing life sustaining information, spiritual guidance, and moral support?

The vibrancy of our common interest and the future we here carve for the TR7 is history in the making. This is the real story worth telling.

There is a lot more to making a documentary than just specific aspects and sometimes it's just not possible to include certain things without upsetting the flow of a film. I've started writing and it is going to be difficult to move away from the US side of things without it jarring. But there is always the possibility of a 'Disc 2' where I can include things that just don't fit. Please bear in mind this will all be about 3,500 hours work to research, write, film and edit together. With more US trips required for interviews I've really got to hope the existing catalogue of Triumph DVDs starts to sell a little better. The latest production on the Triumph Saloon models is the best thing I've ever done but it's no surprise to me there is hardly any interest in it. The only two Triumph models that sell are the Stag and the TR7/8. The Spitfire is fairly popular but you can forget everything else including the TRs. But if I hadn't have followed up and told the entire Triumph story on video then given what little was out there I think all that history would have been lost eventually.

I spent the whole of last December reconstructing the original Bullet DVD which involved finding every single shot, every sound file, every piece of music and every archive clip. I then re-compiled it using all the latest video editing and DVD authoring products and it is now considerably better to my eyes than it was before.

That original production was a project I had been considering for many years mainly as a personal exercise. That the finished product ended up being so extensive and being seen by most classic car journalists around the world was something I could never have envisaged. But here we are five years later and it has proved to have been a significant contribution to changing the overall perspective of the car. I've been speaking to a lot of these classic car magazines ever since and helped put them in contact with owners and people relevant to the wedgie models. This has resulted in more accurate reporting. Yes, there are still people who like to repeat the serial mistakes of the past but I'll get to them all eventually.

In my opinion there is more of a story with these cars than any other model in history and I am going to try to make people aware of it.

By the way, everyone has got to get the next issue of Triumph World out on the 28th December. Roy Hankins yellow TR7 coupe is featured using those fabulous photos done for the club a few months back. It looks absolutely stunning and a great story too. And no, I didn't write it!

John, you are an unsung hero in many eyes and the amount of work involved in one of these editions is unappreciated by most. While I don't have all of the collection yet, that will change some time in the future I hope. I liken you to Samuel Johnson, the father of the first English dictionary, under appreciated and under paid yet the work will live on. For now, largely a labour of love.

John, if you are going to include Canadian efforts such as the BL sponsored sister car number 42 to the Group 44 cars or the Canadian, BL factory backed and factory built rally cars which competed with Buffum at the time, I can provide a lot of details and contacts.
