...has anyone kept the original retaining cap on the strut tube?? I don't know how to tighten it to the specified torque setting and it's too honking big for any of my wrenches. Also, as wide and flat as the hex is, anyone have problems with it cutting into their dust bellows????

I fitted a pair earlier this year, just started running the car again. I used a large pipe wrench and a hammer to do up the nut B****y tight.

I understand what you mean about possible damage to the gaiter, I dont anticipate a problem but will keep an eye on it.

Sounds like PRLEE has the right idea. Brute force!
I am hoping to do my front suspension soon and have been looking at the KYBs as a fiscally responsible alternative to some of the higher end strut inserts.
What is the feedback on the KYBs performance wise?

Between that and the nylon bushings, it'll rattle your fillings

Had them for three years and no problems but the filling rattling is more to the hard poly and 34 lb. tire pressure than shocks. I'm going to start dialing back the tire pressure as a test (after I'm finished using it to transport hard wood flooring in the trunk).[:)]

Thinking about going to a softer bushing

I have found low profile tyres, on large diameter wheels, combined with high tyre pressure has the greatest detrimental effect on the ride of a 7/8.

I have also found that for road work, there is little to gain, [no faster in general, & slower on bumpy roads], & much to loose when you go too far with these mods.
