Hmmmmmm!

Whilst pulling the engine out of our car, this was parked there, obviously someone likes it .................... !? [xx(]

If they had put the things in the front panel, something like the nostrils on that Darwin car, it should aid cooling.

To my mind, where they are, any airflow would only increase the pressure in the engine bay, reducing the air flow through the radiator. It's hard enough to get rid of the air coming through the radiator as it is.

Still it looks like a car that has had much love & attention lavished on it.

At one stage I almost fitted vents to the inner fender to try to give the 8s engine bay hot air another way out.

In the end I didn't do it, as I was worried there just may be a high pressure area in the front wheel arch, & I would just make things worse.

Don't you hate it when you know, you just don't know enough, to know what you are doing.

I'm not 100% sure these are even vented into the engine bay, strongly believe they are blanked off!?

wouldnt they be there for air induction into the carb or carbs more than for cooling. on big gassers usually they are induction more than extracion......[:)]

Will have a closer look next time I see it! All I do know is it's a 3.5 with a Holley on it running an <i>auto </i> box.

I would tend to agree with Nervous.

I would also like to see a picture from 20 ft or so to get the whole effect.[:p]

They've chopped the vents and power bulge from the bonnet of an XB or XC Ford Falcon GT, GS or GXL and incorporated it into the bonnet of the TR

single holley, yeah it for induction not cooling, still prefer a shaker hood tho,....[:D]

They are for induction but I think (correct me if I'm wrong) that Hasbeen was referring to the interferance of the air rushing in to the top of the engine bay with the air rushing in from the front causing bad air flow through the radiator. If the top intake was sealed so it all went into the carb it would be OK which is why you see race prepped cars with a big bath around the carb intake.

I thought it was too far back to be supplying cold air to the carb, but with that air dam, it all makes sense.
