black door handles

Hello Chaps , just been scanning through the billing photos all very impressive, must try and get organised and make it down next year.
Where does one acquire nice shiny black door handles? They would look great on my white FHC [:)]

I'd figure a little DYI with a rattle can would get the job done nicely.....
Powdercoating "might last longer" but not convinced the cost is worth it....

Halfords satin black spay can. Door handles, quarter light and door frames, mirrors, windscreen surround and base, and wipers [:D].
That should keep you busy for the weekend [:D].
And don't forget the windscreen washer jets and the boot lock [:D][:D].

Second car is Wayne's car I have no idea what he did
You could always use Range Rover Classic or Morris Marina door handles
and for a cleaner look use the rear door handles and fit central locking as I have.</b></font id="teal">

I too had them powder coated, more durable and hardly more expensive than rattle cans.
But being alloy (thus slightly porous) there is a risk of small air bubbles under the coating.

LandRover Discovery I and probably some RangeRovers as well...
Rear door handles [left below] if you want them without the key lock (if you like me have keyless entry fitted...),
the front ones [right below] have the switch for the alarm/electric door locking already there - if you want that function...

I've found powder coating to be good value for money. I've just sent my subframe, bottom rad mounting, front antiroll bar & 2 brake disc shields to be blasted & powder coated, all for £40. By the time you've bought primer & top coat and spent hours on prep it's not worth painting. I'm a bit wary of parts being damaged by the blasting so I do paint some bits myself, but for basic lumps of metal it's a no brainer.

Yeah mines the red car,the handles were powder coated by Grinnall originally but have been touched up with paint over the years as it does wear and chip quite easily.

I like the black windscreen surround that all of you seem to have too. Did you just mask it off and paint it, or what? I know that this piece is worth it's weight in unobtainium so I am a bit hesitant to mess with it, but I do like the black better than the chrome.

You're talking about the door handles, right? Maybe someday, but not right now. I am still curious about the windscreen trim and how people have made theirs black though. My understanding of the windscreen seal is that it comes in a coil with wires embedded in it and the wires are connected to power to melt the seal. It is then wrapped around the glass and shoved into the opening. The trim piece is mashed into it and the whole mess solidifies as the seal cools. I don't want to pull the trim piece from a non-cracked leak free windscreen just to make it black.

Gave mine a light sanding then masked it off. Then undercoat
and a couple of coats of satin back [:p]
Did the windscreen base and wiper arms while I was at it, job done [:D].

I dont have the stainless steel windscreen surround at all. The black you see is a normal modern style rubber seal. Grinnall removed them from most of his cars.
