steering shaft

How the heck do you get the steering shaft off? I would like to remove, I believe it is the intermediate shaft, between the steering rack and the firewall. Anybody got pic's?

Undo & remove the bolt in the upper coupling, undo & remove the bolt in the universal joint by the steering rack.Push the shaft back up towards the bulkhead so the universal joint comes of the rack & then pull it back down away from the steering column. [:D]

Opening up the gaps in the U-joints with a large screw driver and a few taps with a copper hammer might turn out to be usefull too ...

Edit ... forgot this one;
You'll have to remove ALL three bolts from the shaft.
Otherwise the U-joint at the top won't slide down far enough to get it of the steering column ...
