Alternative Seats

Has anyone tried alternative seats in their TR7/8?
Mine are getting a bit short of padding so need to be rebuilt or changed. I am sure I have seen somewhere that MG TF seats can be modified to fit on TR7 runners, or maybe Mazda MX5.
Any thoughts or suggstions please.

Thanks Russ

I have tried to fit MX5 sets, but they are narrower than the TR7 seats and look naff in situ. Given this, I have 2 MX5 seats that are just stored in the loft doing nowt. Email me if you are interested in purchasing them.

The foam and springs to repair TR7 seats are available new. Robsport, S&S and Rimmers should be able to supply. The seats will then take a short while to get back to their best but once there you'll have the best seats ever fitted to a mass production vehicle again.

If you rebuild the seats, keep the original side bolsters of the back. These are better foam than the reproductions, unless yours are worn out of course.

Good luck finding diaphragms for the bottoms though. Haven't been able to get them for months.

I got diaphrams from VB when I did mine in winter of 2006/2007 as the old ones were cracked. Noticably firmed them up. I agree, I like my TR7 seats better than my Tercel, Integra or Miata seats. Picture of old ones.
