TR8 Cooling

Postby Sautie » 30 Jun 2010 11:01

My original matching number 1980 TR8 has just been fitted with a new water pump & radiator core. Prior to this work the it would run with the temp gauge just above 1/4 & at roughly 1/2 the fans would go to fast speed. Now it runs at 1/2 & goes to fast fans at 3/4.
I believe that this due to an airlock. If this is correct how do I get rid of the airlock?<font face="Arial"></font id="Arial"><font size="6"></font id="size6"><font color="black"></font id="black">

You have air in the system. The bleeder hose that is on the top of the intake manifold behind the thermostate housing could be clogged or junk in the hose reducing the passage preventing air to escape and go to the expansion tank. Try squeezing the upper hose to move the coolant around and the other is crack the pressure cap....BE CAREFUL and that will let air out faster when hot. This is just an annoying thing about the TR8.
