Hello, I came across this forum site while surfing another club site and thought I should sign up. So here I am.[:)]
I have been looking for a TR7 for a long time, and after reading all the books on what to look for, what not to buy it started to become very confusing, so I did what any confused person would do, and bought the worst one I could find[:D] So happy as my other car never breaks down or gives me any trouble what so ever[:(]
I now have something to potter about on to keep me out of mischief[^]
The mot is due in 2 months time and I will be starting with the exhaust leaks first, not drastic, can be fixed with cleaning up the joints and even more simply, tightening the manifold bolts, which seem very loose.
Then there is just a little...Well huge amounts of see through bits on the car that I gather were not an optional extra when new[V]
So what I am planning to do is slowly over a period of time, keep another TR7 from meeting it fate and spreading wings to head for the big grave yard in the sky[;)] By doing it this way I can still have a TR7 to use[;)]
VAR started life as a '81 Triton Green DHC, but in the mid to late '80's was strip of her natural born cover and redressed in a dark shade of Blue, which just happens to be my favourite colour, so VAR will stay like that for the foreseeable future.
I will keep an up date of progress as they happen, and let you know if my no cost of any £ exhaust is a successful repair[8D]
I will post some pic's as soon as I know how to do it[?]
Regards

Don't forget to get a pizza or a box of donuts as your initiation fee. We'll send Hasbeen and Jclay by later to pick it up.

It's always tempting to start with a junker for little but those of us who have been there and done that know it's better to start with the best car your budget allows as it will be cheaper in the end. However, that route is very satidfying in the end if you remember to enjoy the journey rather than be impatient for the destination. Good luck, this site is the best for the help you will need even if it's just a little encouragement when needed most.

Thank you to every one for the warm welcome and touching words[:)]
Once again it looks like I have fallen on me feet[:D]
It is great to see so many from around the world on this forum.
I reside in Cambridgeshire in a small Village near March, have spent a bit of time travelling the world and have many friends in Oz, NZ,UK and the States. Some of my buddies in NZ race TR7 V8's. My first introduction to the 7 was when it was press released and I thought it was the start of a new being, (the end of the old TR and the start of the new TR) Plus unlike the Rover 800, Triumph got it right on both sides. But it wasn't until 1979 when I had my first ride in a TR7, my mates 1977 2.0ltr Russet Brown coupe, then in 2009 my second ride, only this time it was another mates S and S conversion variant, great noise just not as tight or near rattle free as they were 34 years ago[:)]
But who cares, whats a shake rattle and roll amongst friends[:D]
Sun is coming out so looks like tinkering with the 7 day[;)]
