How do I calculate GPA when applying for college?

I'm almost a junior in high school and my school calculates GPA on a scale where A=4 A-=3.7 B+=3.3 B=3 B-=2.7 and so on. Does a university use the same scale?

Depends on the university. Most are similar. Some do not have +'s and -'s. Look at the school's website under the Registrar's office.

I think this should be posted in the "Non-TR7 related" section.

Here at the Institue for TR7 Studies, we grade on the curve with a few straight line projects included for extra credit. Those other curriculums used by the arguably inferior schools are of little concern. Naturally at my age, my curves are pronouncedly convex where they used to be quite concave. But, I digress.

If a grade of 'A' is 4 points, a grade of 'B' is 3 points, and a grade of 'C' is 2 points, adding them together totals 9 points. Dividing the 9 by the 3 grades would result in a grade point average of 3, which is a 'B' average.

This is the generally accepted method here in the somewhat less than civilized American southwest. I've heard it also is the same in Vermont, except on town meeting days when secession from the Union is discussed over pancakes with locally made maple syrup.
