I do try it so now and then, as ‘t Kreng has a 13" steering wheel, quick rack and rather soft 205/50x15 Yokohama tyres.

Very good arm and shoulder exercise though [:p]

Any used Corsa/Barina, MGF/TF, Honda or even Toyota EPAS is in that price range. I bought both a Corsa B and MGTF system including ECU for half that price. Ebay is your friend...

Check out a Chevy Cobalt steering column. Looks like it could do the job well, and are ample in supply. I was dong the research also but decided that other things on the car are more important, and I don't really mind the way it steers now. Perhaps later when I add bigger wheels and tires.

WOW! Good to know. I won't be going with one of those. If you come up with one let me know what you use.
Thanks.

What the tuners are using is just a an electric pump as in an MR2. Only thing I don't like about that is there is no way to control it.

That Corsa one is interesting and the people already have rheostats for the firmness available.
Like to know how big it is.
Wouldn't even have to switch to a PS rack

S&S offer a conversion which i think uses the Corsa unit, (supply & fit only though) for £1500 (+20% value added theft). Long way for you to bring the car but they might give you some idea of the installation.

Interesting discussion and photos of a Corsa EPAS into a (Audi V8 powered!) Lotus Esprit.
