If this is an alternate part, what's it from? I've never seen one on a TR7. Wonder if it's scavenged from another ZS carb from another car perhaps? The ZS carb was used on more that the TR7 of course, so I wonder if the carbs came from another car?

I got two sets of 1 3/4" ZS carbs with my '73 TR6. One set (I believe from a '69) was adjustable with the tool that Andy has; the later set was not adjustable, apparently in the belief that it would keep folks from fiddling with them and making more smog. I haven't attacked the carbs on my TR8 yet, but it does seem to run a little rich.

I wonder if those were the 'tamper proof' carbs that I've read about but never seen..

Got the new tool in the post today. Works great. Put the original needles back in & set them both about halfway as a starting point. Car ran better than ever before. At last it's not spitting loads of black crap out of the exhausts! [:)]
When I go for the MOT I'll take the tool & adjust it properly while it's on the emissions machine.

So there is a new version of the tool since I bought mine. Nothing is really tamperproof for long!
