Catman you have been added in your place of residence. I hope I put you on the right side of the tracks. If you take away the 'a' & the 'er' from your town you are left with a rude word in UK English. [:D] Pretty funny really.

Milanoverde, to add yourself to the map you need to have a Google account. When you are signed in an 'Edit' button appears to the left of the map & when you click that you can put a placemarker wherever you want. In Rich Text mode you can also add a photo to your placemarker.

Is there any chance we can do this for people who DON'T have a google account? I was going to look into trying to get the Frappr thing up and running again but this looks promising. Jim in NM, USA

I thought the Frappr thing had ceased to be. You can sign up with Google for free but if you don't want to just tell me where you want the pointer & I can add it for you.

Indeed, as of April of 2010, frappr has officially been closed down. So, the Google maps thing is what we have to work with now. I'm going to see if I can drum up some interest in repopulating the Google map over with the WWWedge mailing list crowd. Perhaps we can finally get the TWOA crowd too. Let's see how this works. Anyway we can blast a message to everyone on triumphtr7.com?

Just an update. Folks on the WWWedge mailing list are now trying to populate the map, we'll see how that goes.

I've added my car to the new Ally's Atlas.

Currently the most Northerly TR7 in the British Isles!

I may have missed this in the discussion but I need to ask again. Has anyone found a way to add yourself to the map without having a Google account? I've added a few folks from the WWWedge mailing list from my Google account... just wondering if it's possible. If so, please enlighten us? :-)

I've just added my TR7's to the new Ally Map. Just the second Canadian.

Tencate, you've managed to kick off a growth spurt. It's really good to see it take off at last. I am a bit wary of adding people other than yourself because some people have strong views on privacy so please get approval from the person before doing this.

To answer your question, you do have to have a Google account to add a placemarker. It's a free account & having one doesn't mean Google will track you on the internet anymore than what they already do (which is a lot). [:)] When I started this map I made it open to everyone to edit (if you have the Google account) because otherwise I would need to send invitations & manage access etc. I thought it would work better if everyone had equal access so they didn't feel like it was owned by any one individual. The downside of this is that your placemarker can be moved/changed/deleted by anyone else who is logged on. For now we will have to trust that people will respect other people's placemarkers.

Having said that, I deleted a placemarker that was in the middle of the Alaskan tundra this morning. There is also a marker for Grass Valley, CA which doesn't seem to be TR7/8 related. Anyone want to claim that one?
