That type of grease gun is about as handy as a spare dick at a wedding! :lol:
This is because you need one hand to hold the gun, another to operate the leaver and yet another hand to keep the head on the nipple!

What.....you don't have three hands??????

You're better off with one in this type of pattern:

I thought you were meant to tighten the connector onto the nipple then loosen it before you remove it.

Have I been doing it wrong all this time?

No you've been doing it right, at least theoretically right, but in the real world that isn't always possible, due to grease nipples often being located in places that make it impossible to get a grip of the head, or even poorly made grease nipples being of inconsistent size and of course worn collets in the head.

My 1/8 bsp grease nipple came the other day. It's still too big. There's a farm machinery place near me. I'll take the wee bolt out and try get them to match it to a grease nipple
