Edrose Sunroof - TR7 / TR8

Postby TR Tony » 26 Oct 2013 10:56

Thanks gents. Sounds like these cords in the side of the panel may well be the problem. Do these cords just run from front to back each side to give tension to the sides, or is it one long cord that runs round the whole roof assembly?

I assume that the roof has to come off the car to access these cords?

I am about to start restoring one of my Edrose roofs as it is ifting at the sides (at this stage I am assuming it may need re-tensioning). Aything else I should be looking at to replace whilst it is out?

I am also building up a stock of spare parts for both the Edrose and Webasto types ... with this in mind if anyone who has a roof / breaking a car with one in, etc then please don't just throw the parts away, someone may want a piece! .... and if you are that someone then feel free to send me a message.

with a urethane sealer/adhesive called Sikaflex [spelling]. These things have NO, I reppeat, NO fasteners at all.

The panels are held to the frame, & to each other just with urethane, & have no screws, rivets, or bolts, & he's been doing it for years. Frightens the daylights out of me, but it works.

Sikaflex is fantastic stuff, we use it at work all the time, mostly to seal transducers into boat hulls and they never ever leak. If it can cope with being sat in sea water all the time, it'll be fine for a sunroof.
