gearbox mount

Postby titan » 22 Mar 2016 19:09

hi, putting in a TVR engine soon and have noticed that the LT77 box has a different mounting. The usual type is single rubber but the one i have is a double at an angle. Does anyone have a drawing or photo before i go hacking the cross member to bits .....................thanks

I think you're after something like the arrangement in the Rimmers link. It sounds like you have something similar to the SD1 which used the same gearbox but 2 mounting rubbers on a very different crossmember.

The V8 crossmember isn't available but the TR7 item can be used.

There's someone selling on eBay

Hope this helps,

There has been a lot of discussion about the gearbox mount and finding comparable replacements because the new reproduction mounts are very hard rubber and transmit a lot of noise up into the car. What does the TVR mount look like? Is it at all adaptable to this kind of cross bar?

One of my 7s had 2 small round mounts on either side of the box. A Triumph expert said they looked like Stag mounts.

It really was a pretty good car with a great body, but was really gutless 7 required more work than a couple of others I had, so I moved it on, without ever looking much at that mount. Wish I had now.
