I worked in the Henlys wholesale car department in NW London for about a fortnight in the 1980's. One day there was a big fuss in the office as two Mini Citys had been delivered in a non available metallic colour. We then had to job them out to dealers at a discount. Apparently this used to happen all over the BL group but especially Austin and Triumph.
There were also stacks of unsold TR7 FHC there as dealers couldn't shift them after the DHC was released.
