Finding Cadmium Simulated Paint

Postby FI Spyder » 19 Feb 2015 14:06

After seeing the painted brake booster in a post down below, years ago I remember seeing a aerosol paint that simulated cadmium plating, you know the translucent faintly gold colour. I haven't been able to find any yet but would like to get a hold of some. Has any one else remember seeing it and if it can be bought now?

They sometimes just stop making good stuff. In 2007 I used some aircraft paint stripper on my windshield lower cover. It crinkled the paint and when dry the paint could be just pulled off, no muss no fuss. I went to get some last year after using some less than desirable paint stripper from the auto parts store I had initially bought it from and they said the company was bought out by another and they stopped making it and just made their own which was vastly inferior. Maddening.

That's the stuff. As recommended in the viewers comments rather than starting with a grey primer like the Eastwood video I can see starting with a chrome paint would work better. The translucent gold would have to be used sparingly so the chrome shows through. I wasn't aware/didn't notice the green/red highlights so don't know about that but the clear protector to finish it off would be a good idea. Have to get me some of that stuff. Thanks guys.
