Clutch pivot bolt removal - ST 1136

Postby darrellw » 15 Jan 2015 12:46

ST 1136, this is the tool to use to remove the clutch lever are pivot bolt. Anyone know what head is on the pivot? Will a crowfoot wrench have enough reach?

Thanks!

Hi Darrell,

I am sure I just use a deep socket, will check over the weekend what size you require and get back to you.

Cheers John

Darrel: The pivot is 3/4" or 19mm. A deep socket will do it. But a socket won't work if you are trying to remove the pivot with the fork still in place, like the manual says you should. Forget that. Just reach behind the fork and wiggle the fork spring off the ball of the pivot, then you can slide the whole release bearing and fork off together. Much easier!

Thanks!

Yes, I was asking about removing the pivot with the arm in place, like the manual says. But I'll just remove the arm.

I also Googled ST 1136 and found this Snap On tool:

Looks like it would be just the right size, too!
