Back on the road again.

Postby claypole1360 » 14 Dec 2014 21:00

So the chancellor introduces these new road tax laws where you can pay monthly. I need to get the V8 ready for Spa and the price of unleaded has dropped massively. I have de used to tax the TR7 continuously meaning I can now go out when I want in it. I will have to watch the salt on the road as that will fast track the bodywork issues. But I feel somewhat liberated by the thought. Driving the Tr on Christmas Day, what a present.

Calvin.

It's only a car - drive - and enjoy - it.
DTJ is taxed all year round.
A New Year's Day run is always liberating - especially in a Drop Head! [:(]

Speaking DHC driving, I went into town today and briefly considered the Spider as the sky was blue and the sun was beating down but it was only 6C. I've kept the top down as I may want to remove the seat to get under dash before spring driving. The wisdom of being older prevailed and I took the Integra. Besides it would have been a bit precious, cool as it was.

So, John,

Do you often drive your coupe to the BMW dealership where you work? If so, do you get any comments from customers?

Clay,
I suppose that BMW still own the name of the TR7 so in theory, it would be coming home. When Chris Bangle introduced his so-called flame surfacing styling to BMW, it was very controversial too. However I doubt they had the same reliability issues.

We- that's my son and myself, had a quick blast up to Alston from Penrith last week (on Wednesday when Scotland was getting plastered with snow :)). Roads were fine and the scenery stunning, unfortunately due to time of year the Hartside cafe was shut.
Petrol hitting £1.10 has got to be good news for all of us, may its price continue to fall in the New Year!

We can only dream of 58 pence a litre. The predictions of doom and gloom in the oil industry over here are rampant, low price for oil hurting investment etc. It's been low everywhere else except here for years(generalisation) but I assumed that was a tax issue.

Here, most/all of our gas comes from the States (Cherry Point Refinery just over the border in Washington State. It's always cheaper there than here mostly due to taxes. While it costs more to bring it over to the island on the ferries we don't have the added taxes put on by Vancouver that goes to public transit as we don't have the traffic problems (here people complain of a three car backup at the lights).[:p]
