Water in door seal.

Water in door seal.

When I was scraping off old carpet glue I took off the door seal and loads of water came out of it. Should the seal have drain holes? I seem to recall seals on other cars having a couple of holes in them.

The original factory seals (DHC) were filled at either end to prevent them filling up with rainwater.

I've seen aftermarket ones which don't have this, and as the open ends point upwards, they're open to the rain. The hardtop's don't have this problem.

Thanks for that, I reckon its going back on with the ends sealed then.
I might also make a couple of holes in the bottom corners to allow air in and out as well.

Update on the door seals.

I put a couple of small V shaped cuts in each seal at their lowest points so any water that gets in can find a way out. I will seal the ends as well when I can find some suitable stuff to use.

I would drill the holes with a small drill bit like the originals. With the ends sealed you need somewhere for the air to go when you compress the seal when the door is closed.
