Austin Rover - First Impressions Count

Postby Neil_W » 17 Jul 2013 05:37

This is pure 80's BL - How to complete a PDI (Pre delivery inspection )

Caught my eye as the later part was filmed at the Dealers Garage Hartwells of Banbury which supplied my TR7 so it should have been in that showroom a few years previous - don't think the decor will have changed !

Presented by Michael Rodd - the real life Alan Partridge the film contains hiccups - see at the end the chap drives away in his new white Montego in a jacket then next he is in his white shirt zooming out of the junction - all Terry & June !

Quite funny really - when did a Austin Rover car not rattle or fall apart.

I like watching these films, thanks for posting!

I worked at that dealership for 3 years in the 90s. I can confirm it hadn't changed much! The dealership was demolished in around 2003 and is now a Homebase..

I worked for Hartwells for about 6 or 7 years and know quite a few people in the company. I don't know the general manager featured in the film but I found him on Facebook, he lives locally to me and I expect is retired.
