My 7 has been getting a bit doubtful in starting recently, only just managing a few times, with a fading battery.
It is more than battery to blame. Out weather has not been conducive to 7 motoring. Virtually every day for weeks there has been just a little rain, not enough to do any good for anything, but enough to make your car dirty. Felt quite like Pommy land really, not the least like our winter.
Thus I have only had the 7 out once every 2 or more weeks. It has always had a slight electrical leak, so not too surprised the battery has been low. However I thought I'd check how old the battery is.
My records show last battery fitted in May 2007. Does this sound right? I don't remember batteries lasting 6 years in the past.
She has also had another dose of ignition problem I thought I'd fixed. She just started on the low battery after a 3 week or so rain period, then coughed quite a few times, including a couple of dead cuts, with the rev counter dropping to zero, for a second or so. I was going to take her into the auto electrical shop I use, but after just 12/15Km it had cleaned up & has not returned.
I can't expect them to find anything when it is nor exhibiting, but I really want it found. Obviously something is making a poor connection, which improves with use. Probably moisture, but I'm damned if I know where, I've cleaned everything I can think of.
Meanwhile, with over 2000Km on the new engine the car is flying. I must be kidding myself, but is seams to overtake things doing around 90 to 100Km in top, almost as quickly as the S2000 in third.
I just have to caress the accelerator & she leaps forward. Funnily enough it does not show much interest over 5000, or below 2000, but in that mid range she's great.
