I would tend to agree with above. My later Solihull car is a different animal to the Speke car.

All very sound advice Greg. Find the best example you can afford & then make sure you maintain it regularly. A FHC is more practical for year round use.

I am fortunate that living in a small town & close to my work, I don't have to make a daily commute - well, only on my bike[:)] I only have my TR7 & TR8, no other car, so one of them is on the road at any time. If I do need to drive anywhere then I have no hesitation in using the TR, it gets used a few times a week.

Over the last 12 months I have actually used the TR8 more, it has been on the road through the winter & has been fine, although I do my best to avoid using it when there is salt on the roads. Regular maintenance checks & thorough cleaning especially of the wheel arches & underside is a must, but if you are prepared to invest that time in looking after the car then you should have no problems.

No personal experience as me and all my cars are in retirement mode. [8D]

However the previous owner of Spider said she not only used it as a daily driver but as her business car (1985 - 1999). It only let her down once (lost power, didn't know what it was, just got it fixed).

Thankyou to everyone for the brilliant advice! Its much appreciated.

From what everyone has said, I think I'm going to get a TR7 in august when my insurance runs out on my current car. What everyone has said is the same as what my dad has told me about his old 2litre TR7 which he drove daily, although that was nearly 30 years ago now!

What is a reasonable budget to get a taxed and tested 7?

Many Thanks to everyone who has given me great advice! [:)]

Greg
