Upper Column Clamp

Postby prlee » 16 Dec 2012 15:42

Part no ukc2323, what does it do?

A few weeks ago I replaced the upper steering column UJ, since then I have a new vibration from under the dash. It happens at 3000rpm and is quite annoying.

The only thing I can think of is that when final fitting the UJ the upper steering column was moved slighty up so this clamp is now in contact with the column tube.

I cannot see or find out what this clamp does, any ideas?

Pete all it does is stop the column coming up too far. Without it the column , with UJ removed can slide out the top of the tube,

If you think it is your problem, undo the clamp bolt, slide it down a very little, & re tighten the clamp bolt.

How was the fire wall bush? It could be a source of vibration, if it is too worn.

Thanks Hasbeen, the bush seemed fine which I wasn't expecting.
