Front Spoiler

Postby Maxwell » 10 Dec 2012 19:52

Fixed Head - 1981 - one of the last off the line.
Was the black front spoiler standard fitment by this time?
Were they rubber\composite, or plastic? My long-gone 1979 DHC looked to be rubber\composite, the one on the 'new' silver Fixed Head looks to be fibre-glass: lightweight and nasty! On the other hand, it may be plastic. Looking to paint it with some rubberized solution, or replace it, depending on what it should be!

Advise sought!

Definitely standard fitment, the original is plastic, but there are fibreglass repro ones out there so maybe yours has been replaced.

Brand new original spoilers are available, Heritage part I think, Robsport advertise them, no doubt others sell them too. Just over £100 IIRC.

Thanks, Tony. Guess mine is an original Plastic. It's different from the same-shaped earlier one though!

The front spoiler is a hollow plastic affair on mine whilst the repo fibre glass ones are a single skin sheet ie they bwere moulded front the original.

Hi

I am sure got a brand new one somewhere, the gent who owned my FHC had brought one for her but thankfully never got round to fitting it [:)] I think from what i can remember its a BL part not a 'repo'

I really need to brave the cold and check! My 'last' one was like that described by SilverSeven and Neil. Personally, I like the 'no-spoiler' look, an impression endorsed by the hard, gloss, plastic look it has now! Heigh-Ho
