TR7 to/or TR8 Predicament - Advice Needed

Having a few options I'd like some different opinions on the best route please, all advice and any other options most welcome.

<font color="blue">How good are you at spannering? I converted mine for around £2k myself 21 years ago. That included a conversion kit from S&S. I sourced a low mileage Range Rover engine c/w Holley carb from a Land Rover specialist in Padiham, V8 flywheel from James Paddock, bellhousing from Rimmers, clutch from Rovercraft (now RPi engineering)TR8 rear axle from Robsport, bigger brakes from S&S, upgraded suspension from Triumphtune and various other parts as I went along.

There wasn't anything particularly difficult about converting to V8 as the stuff all bolts into place on to a DHC which has a common 7/8 underbody.

V8's need well sorted suspension and brakes. The standard items can barely cope with the 2.0L engine.

Prices have probably gone up now.[;)]</font id="blue">

I did mine for less than £500,

I modified the tr7 subframe adding tr8 style brackets, the off engine brackets were modified from the SD1 ones.
I made the exhaust using the existing tr7 sport one on the left and making the rhs one from some silencers and stainless pipes.
I used the SD1 cast manifolds and modified the downpipes.(this involves mounting the engine slightly to the left to get clearance to the siderails)
I used the TR7 radiator with newly fabricated mountings, after discussions with Simon at robsport who pointed out that bar the hose spigot diameter they are the same size, with acouple of turned up hose reducers it works a treat.
I already had a 3.45 axle, uprated brakes and suspension.
The engine was a secondhand SD1 unit which I stripped and re-built with a new cam
The clutch housing and clutch parts came off ebay.
The propshaft was already a non standard one with a sliding spline, this still worked with the engine moved 25mm rearwards.
