I guess the question is whether that fuel pump locking ring is locked to the tank with rust, or can actually be removed without damaging the tank. I may send the car to another shop before I head south again for the ATDI. I don't want to spend that week working on the car. The second aftermaket pump is still working, but I'm still having problems with the electric supply to the pump. It also failed again after the shop repaired the oil pressure safety switch in April. I'm back to running with an alligator clip feeding the pump direct from the battery, not the best way to do it.

Jim,
I was hoping you might make it to the Historics. We had 3 Wedges there Saturday, about a quarter of the turnout for PTOA. Those parade laps are a hoot. The pace was quicker than I would have expected; freeway speeds on the back straight. I'll be back to Oregon for the ATDI next month.
