Nice article, shame they couldn't find unmodified cars for the pix but I'm knitpicking! I have just been thinking howuch better my "new" all black interior would have looked with black headlining when this article appears saying that some cars had black headlining! Is this correct? Has anyone actually seen a black headlining in a TR7?

Very interesting article and from a different perspective.
The picture of the convertible with the tan interior near the begining of the article, was intriguing.
I thought the steering wheel, mentioned in the picture as an after market addition, was very attractive.
The all black interior door catch on the drivers door, left hand drive, would that have been fitted on later models or does anybody know what car it was from?

That is an original late TR7 (Solihull built) door pull.
Also used in a few other British cars from the era.

I've been in cars with those types of release but couldn't remember which.

An article of facts without TR7 bashing that journalists usually plagiarize. The thing in the article I didn't know was that the Speke strike was about going from hourly wage to daily wage.

A error was that the mock up was never considered as an MG (the reason it had MG Magnette on it) but because the design studio wanted to finish it off with badging and not having done any work for Triumph but had for MG, they used the available badges.

I had read some were (Bill Piggott's book?) that the early coupes had black liner but it was thought it made the interior too dark so it was changed to white.

The none standard steering wheel is too new. Although the general styling of the car is modern, those of us who have lived through the various periods recognize it is out of place as the car is late 70's early eighties where as the wheel is of the following decades.
