MALPASSI Filter King Fuel Regulator

I've had to change the filter in my fuel regulator on the V8. Usually when you take the bowl off the filter - its large retaining spring drops out. This time I had the following little components also drop out!! I assume they are part of the valve in the top of the regulator but as the supplier and manufacturer refuse to supply any drawings or pictures I can't figure out how they fit back in!! Has anyone got one on the shelf they can unscrew the bowl from and have a look at to me help out?

Hi Wayne,

I'm afraid I can't help you on this, but by now hopefully you have it sorted?

The reason for my reply to this post is because you've got me thinking, when I got my Grinnall (really hoping to get it on the road soon!) there were lots of bits missing, so I put things back as I thought. The fuel pump is a Facet Red top and this feeds straight to SU Carbs. I'm thinking do I need a fuel regulator in the line?
Is this how your set up is? I haven't run the engine yet so I don't know if the carbs would be over pressured.

The Facet Red Top is listed at 0,45-0,55 bar and 159 litre/h,
so yes you need a pressure regulator as the pumps pressure is too high for a carburettor.

I have the pump mounted near the fuel tank ...

And the pressure regulator sits against the front bulkhead, just before the carburettors ...

And with the steering wheel on the proper side, there's enough room here [:p]

Yes I finally got this sorted - a very helpful chap replied on the TR Register Forum with the technical drawing below that shows the parts above in their correct positions.

I run a Edelbrock carburettor which prefers fuel at around 4.5PSI. The red top pump is 6PSI so I use that regulator to not only bring the pressure down but also to take the "pulses" out of the supply and also add an extra filter for safety which is more effective for filtering out water by separation than an inline one is. Without this you may find the pump overcomes the float valves on an Edlebrock and floods the chambers.

Mine is situated driver side of the engine bay between the turret and the bulkhead just beside where the big grommet is. This then feeds into an inline filter then into the carb.
