Horn stopped working

Postby TR7Aaron » 08 Oct 2011 22:53

Suddenly, my horn stopped working. Everything else seems OK. I pulled the fuse box cover but there is no diagram under the lid (as I was expecting to see). Can anyone tell me which fuse(s) would control the horn and/or relay?
Thanks!

Not that difficult to pull out the fuses and check them [:p]

In my experience, with horns, it's very often earthing issues. supercass

Well, it seems to be a non-issue now. I just came from the garage and it's now decided to work properly. The Lord of Darkness (and/or silence) seems to have given up this battle!

They are grounded by the mounting bolt. I'd clean that up as well as the supply connection. I'd taken my horns apart to clean them up and paint them. The last one wouldn't work on car but would if connected directly to battery. Turned out I had reversed the two gaskets (different thicknesses). Once put back in correctly it worked fine.

Well, they have decided to stop working (again). I have removed each and test by connecting directly to the battery and both work. I pulled the knob from the stalk and manually touched the two prongs together - nothing. Fuses seem to be OK. I'm guessing it has to be a connection or ground somewhere since this issue is intermittent.

I'll correct myself - it was the horn relay. On the USA cars, it's located in the engine compartment, next to the wiper motor. Anyone have a part number for this?
Thanks.

Just take the relay to the local parts store. They are pretty standard and the numbers are right on them.
